A new water-soluble linear methylpolysiloxane containing thiuronium chloride was synthesized. It was shown that this polysiloxane, which is neutral in aqueous solution, imparted durable water resistance to fabrics with alkali treatment, heat treatment, or aging. The water resistance and durability is mainly due to formation of insoluble tri functional methylpolysiloxane resin on the surface of the fabric.
