Abstract
The resistance to diffusion of a large number of perforated metal plates has been studied. Thickness, hole diameter, and number of holes per unit area were varied, and experimental relationships found between these variables. These empirical relations are used to derive the general expression:
for the resistance of a plate, where T = thickness of plate; d = diameter of each per foration; β = percentage area of perforation. It is shown that this expression is in agreement with one derived from theoretical considerations.
