Abstract
A brief review is made of the known methods of mothproofing wool, with particular reference to the fastness obtained by each method. The treatment of wool with formaldehyde and cer tain phenols, especially halogen-substituted phenols, is studied and shown to give good re sistance to attack by clothes moth larvae in many cases. The fastness obtained by this treat ment is also investigated, and a mechanism is suggested.
