The method proposed in the following paper has been deemed by its reviewers to be suitable for adoption by industrial research laboratories. Although it was not designed specifically for textile applications, in view of the fact that statistical methods are used to a greater or lesser extent in textile laboratories, it would appear that this method should be of interest to textile research personnel.
