In view of the importance of taking load-versus-compression characteristics on gelatins and other textile auxiliaries, a precision instrument has been developed with which it is possible to make such tests with an accuracy of four significant figures.
The instrument described permits the quantitative determination of load-versus-compression characteristics during loading as well as unloading, the investigation of the time factor, of elastic hysteresis, and fatigue, phenomena, as well as the jell strength within gelatins, sizes and the like.
