Abstract
For optimum finishing of PET self-extensible filaments, we study the effect of finishing conditions on the self-extensibility of POY samples from a draw-twist machine. In this work, we adopt the shrinkage/extension from a step-by-step hot treatment to measure the properties of self-extensible filaments. The experimental results show that the optimum conditions are 1.07 pre-draw ratio, 6% over-feed ratio, 100°C pre-heater roller tempera ture, 170°C heater plate temperature, and 800 m/min yarn speed, resulting in steady production and better quality of self-extensible filaments.
