This paper extends the work discussed previously in a series of papers devoted to the use of image analysis methods to characterize the fiber orientation. This paper outlines the theory and application of the Hough transform in determining the fiber orientation distribution of a series of simulated and real nonwoven fabrics. The results are compared to those obtained using fast Fourier transform methods.
