A measurement technique for fabric extensibility, thickness, and compressibility is presented. The method uses a portable fabric testing apparatus that measures in a rapid and nondestructive manner. The apparatus is evaluated by measuring the properties of a wide range of woven fabrics. Results are validated by comparison with measurements obtained with FAST (fabric assurance by simple tests) system.
