Abstract
We present a first approach to a model and an experimental study of mass transfer in cotton fabrics. After a few global approximations, we base our model on the wall theory, which allows us to calculate the apparent diffusion coefficient of salt in two different fabrics at different flows. Applying this model to textile washing units used industrially, we can obtain the impurity profile concentration in a fabric all through the washing process. With these profiles, we can then calculate the global efficiency of the washing process or any other process involving mass transfer.
