Abstract
The overall properties of yams spliced under different splicing conditions are investi gated, including strength, bending, abrasion, and appearance. A statistical model that helps to predict the overall properties of the splices under different splicing and yam parameters is established, and the optimum splicing conditions (optimizing both the splicer and the yam parameters) are investigated. The results also indicate that yam linear density is the parameter that has the most important effect on the overall properties of spliced yams.
