In air-jet weaving, weft insertion time depends on the characteristics and properties of the weft yam. Because deviations of properties within bobbins exist, a control system is sometimes required to obtain a sufficiently even arrival time of the weft yam. This paper presents a new control strategy to obtain a more constant arrival time over the bobbin. The control strategy is illustrated and tested using a Monte Carlo simulation. For this purpose, a mathematical model for weft insertion on air-jet looms is developed. The new control strategy shows good results.
