Abstract
“I continue to stress self worth and a sense of belonging as key ingredients in my classroom as all academic growth hinges on how the children perceive themselves. I have learned a great deal from my oldest son, about whom I wrote this article, as he has helped me understand the fears and frustrations of failing. I am growing in patience and finding strengths to praise even very slow students. I also can more easily see through the facade of the trouble makers to look for the frustrations that cause such unacceptable be-behavior.”
