Abstract
This paper is an exploratory of social analysis from the historical viewpoint. Spain's modernization, in the background of Carlos III's Enlightenment (1756-1788), begins with the Peninsular War and the Bourgeois Revolution (1808-1834/37). The two great institutions of the "Ancient Regime", the aristocracy's and the Church's late medieval systems of privileges, were wiped out.
