Abstract
The author of this article prefers the notion of « peoples's religion » to that of « popular religion », because he thinks the for mer has become too much of an ideologically marked instrument in the relations which are being formed between religious hierar chies critical theologians and the « grass roots» concerning the decision-making process within the Churches.
