La prédication peut être définie comme une interaction symbolique entre le prédicateur et l'assemblée des fidèles. Les acteurs utilisent le sermon pour construire leur perception de la religion et, par là, une certaine perception de l'ordre social. Le modèle communicationnel dramatique de Duncan procure à l'Auteur le cadre théorique qu'il utilise pour l'analyse secon daire des données d'enquête. Les résultats montrent que, chez les paroissiens, l'intérêt à l'égard du contenu des sermons semble s'orienter plutôt vers de contenu religieux des attitudes et des conduites envisagées par le prédicateur.
