Cet article débute par une discussion approfondie de différents cas historiques de personnes devenues membres du mouvement pentecôtiste au sein de l'Eglise Catholique. Au travers de ces divers cas, émergent des similitudes qui, associées, permettent à l'Auteur de construire un modèle des combinaisons de facteurs qui prédisposent à la participation au mouvement pentecôtiste. Ce modèle est alors examiné dans les termes de différents cadres théoriques, y compris les théories de l'aliénation et du comportement collectif selon Smelser.
