Abstract
The South-American and Filipino « compadrazgo » complex is briefly described, as an example of socio- religious integration based on ritual co-parenthood. Parallel Old-world institutions are mentioned, together with some of their recent developments. And further research into this type of social coordination is sug gested, as conducive to a better understanding of fundamental religious organization.
