Abstract
A new and increased empha sis on the use of modeling and simulation as a direct and significant part of the Opera tional Test and Evaluation (OT&E) Process has recently been established in the Depart ment of Defense. A comprehen sive policy statement was issued by the Director, Opera tional Test and Evaluation, on 24 Jan 1989. In line with this policy the US Air Force has initiated a broad series of actions ranging from develop ment programs to application of modeling and simulation in actual test and evaluation. This paper summarizes these actions and provides some limited commentary on the causes and effects of the new policy emphasis.
