Fixed-time interval simulation has been used extensively in deci sion support systems to provide an understanding of the nature of the risks involved in proposed choices. An alternative ap proach, which is particularly suitable for decisions involving group concensus is the use of operational gaming. This paper describes these two approaches and compares their advantages and disadvantages. The concept of using decision rooms as gam ing environments for supporting group decision making is intro duced and explored.
