DYNAMO has had a long history as a simulation language. Although usually thought of as a continuous language, it is, in fact, a non-procedural, fixed-time interval language. Non- procedural financial planning languages, such as the Interactive Financial Planning System (IFPS), are equivalent to DYNAMO, but IFPS is preferred because of the greater ease with which models can be described to managers and it has the ability to model a greater variety of situations quite simply.
