Abstract
Jay W. Forrester began his simulation work when he was directing development of the Whirlwind computer for the study of engineering systems at MIT, circa 1950, and the SAGE man/machine air-defense system at MIT's Lincoln Laboratories. Later, as professor of management at MIT, he developed system dynamics, a methodology which makes use of computer modeling and simulation to study corporate and social systems.
