Recollections of a Pioneer

Abstract

I remember when I first laid eyes on Skram; it was at NACA Moffett Field (now NASA Ames Research Center), where he was pointed out as one of the most knowledge able of people in analog simulation. That was in the early fifties-so admittedly he didn't have much com petition. But Harold had been trying to make those early analogs work for some ten years already. Skram was with the Naval Ordinance Laboratory, Corona, California, and with the National Bureau of Standards both there and in Washington. Then he went academic and as a result earned his current titles. The value of the contributions Harold Skramstad has made to our art and science since his early start are in direct contrast to the brevity of his contribution to this issue, which follows.
