Abstract
Animal-pasture ecosystems can be studied by the use of modelling and simulation. This paper describes one such model to illustrate the advantages and problems of this approach. In the course of our work some important areas which require further data were revealed, and we discuss their effect on the future development of the model. We found the model to be highly sensitive to certain factors and these receive particular attention. The value of simu lation in conventional agriculture research is illustrated by using the model to compare the possible outcomes of sev eral management strategies.
