Abstract
The nonlinear differential equations required to correctly model the plenum pressure history of a pneumatically controlled blowdown wind tunnel are derived, and arguments in favor of digital simulation of the full nonlinear equations as opposed to conven tional linearized analysis are presented. Operation aZ data for a real system are then compared to com puter-simulated data to show by example how digital simulation can be employed as a most economical and effective diagnostic tool, in this case being used to uncover the source of undesired oscillations not predicted by conventional linear analyses.
