Abstract
The design of a buzzer, one type of electromechanical transducer, has been improved by generating a mathe matical model of the device and simulating the model on an analog computer. A comparison of predicted cur rent responses to actual current responses verified the accuracy of the model and the computer program. The basic buzzer design was optimized by using the model to optimize the air gap, the spring, and the coil. Operat ing voltage ranges, the codes, and the coil adjustments for each code were also determined from the model. The new buzzer design resulted in improved efficiency, per formance, and cost.
