Abstract
It is uncommon for acute synovitis to be associated with the simultaneous presence within a joint of crystals of both monosodium urate and calcium pyrophosphate. We report a hypercalcaemic patient with gout and chondrocalcinosis in whom hypocalcaemia following removal of a parathyroid adenoma precipitated acute gout and pseudogout.
