Abstract
There are very few available studies on the qualitative des cription of the oral reading behaviour of second language learners of English particularly in Southeast Asia. In this study the investigator attempted to apply Goodman's miscue analysis in describing the oral reading performance in English of selected Filipino fourth grade pupils. The findings reveal that although the Subjects (Ss) have limited background in English, they seem to process the printed page in the same way as the native speakers of English do.
