Abstract
There were two errors in the article by Kumar et al., “Geographic Variaion in Medicaid Claims for Dental Procedures in New York State,” which appeared in the September/October 2010 issue.
On page 650, the difference in treatment costs per recipient for those younger than 21 years of age between fluoridated and non-fluoridated counties was $23.65, rather than $23.63. This difference was due to rounding. Therefore, the mean cost of a simple restoraive service per Medicaid recipient is estimated to be $91.30 (1.66 claims × $55) and $67.65 (1.23 claims × $55) in less fluoridated and predominantly fluoridated counties in New York State, respectively, The difference between these two groups in treatment costs per recipient averaged $23.65, assuming that all of them received in a simple restoration.
Also, Guthrie Birkhead's name was misspelled.
