In the 1950s social psychologist Muzafer Sherif presented his landmark studies on groups in harmony and tension. What he discovered about the induction and resolution of intergroup hostility has direct bearing on the conduct of contemporary labor-management relations. His findings are presented as a reminder to those who would attempt to understand and shape employee-employer interactions in the workplace.
