In order to test the psychoanalytic theory of obesity, the Dynamic Personality Inventory of T. G. Grygier was administered to two groups of females (obese and normal weight, ns = 35). No significant differences between groups were found and the tenability of the theory of obesity and suitability of the scales were questioned.
