Abstract
The finding, identification and preservation of a palm mark in blood on human skin may or may not be unique. I am aware that a “latent” impression was developed on skin some years ago under laboratory conditions but the chance of this being accomplished under practical operational conditions, as far as 1 am aware, is not possible at the present time. Whilst I appreciate that a blood deposit mark requires no development to make it visible, as would be the case with a latent impression, I feel sure this account of the events leading up to the death of Herbert Holroyd and the identification of an accused person's palm impression on skin and its subsequent preservation will be of interest to both fingerprint and police officers.
