Abstract
The Greater Manchester Police have recently installed a computerized Personnel Records system to cater for the detailed records of almost 6,000 police personnel. The system has aroused considerable interest among other police forces, local authorities and certain large commercial organizations.
The system was designed, developed and installed by Gemini Computer Systems Ltd. in conjunction with the Computer Section of the City of Manchester and the Greater Manchester Police. This article describes the background to the system, the facilities offered and the reaction, by the user, to the operational use of the system.
