Abstract
On pages 127/128 the sentence, “In the Essex Constabulary …” should read as follows:—
“In the Essex Constabulary the procedure is for urgent work (e.g. burst pipes) to be reported by telephone by the Division concerned to the local representative of the County Architect's Department who will deal with it; applications for other works are reported in writing through police headquarters to the County Architect who arranges inspections and issues orders for the work to be done in some cases, and in others (costly internal decorations for example) submits the application to the quarterly meeting of the Building and Sites Sub-Committee for approval or otherwise, and ultimate approval (or otherwise) of the quarterly meenng of the Standing Jomt Committee.”
