Abstract
Over the decades, Kappan has published dozens of articles on school segregation, but the topic remains as urgent as ever. While the articles in this issue take up a number of familiar themes — voluntary integration, teacher diversity, housing segregation, and more — they come at them in new and distinct ways, reflecting the difficult historical moment in which they were composed: Given the racial and ethnic divisions we face today, this is a time for realism and the pursuit of small victories in the ongoing fight against segregation.
