Kappan editor Rafael Heller reflects on how much progress has been made in the learning sciences in recent decades. Brain research, as well as cognitive and developmental psychology, has now produced findings that can and should inform classroom practice. However, educators must be cautious about mistaken old ideas that refuse to die.
