Abstract
Most math and English/language arts teachers who have taught under their state’s previous standards and their state’s current standards report having as much or more autonomy as before new standards, according to a survey by the Center on Education Policy. A 3-year research study by Google, nicknamed Project Artistotle, found that teams were most effective when team members experienced interpersonal trust and mutual respect. In the best teams, members listen to one another and show sensitivity to feelings and needs. Large gaps in 8th-grade science achievement between white and racial/ethnic minority children and between children from higher- and lower-income families are present by the time children enter kindergarten, according to researchers at Pennsylvania State University.
