Abstract
This is the third in a series of occasional articles looking at developments in Chinese agriculture. China has about 5 million km2 of grassland suitable for rearing livestock, with some 45.5 million people living in these areas. In the past ten years, great achievements have been made in animal husbandry, due to the implementation of economic reform policies in these areas. However, development has been slowed by inadequate inputs and for other reasons.
