The improvement of tropical grasslands with Stylosanthes can lead to remarkable increases in cow weights, weaning rates, weaning weight, and total carrying capacity. But good results are obtained only by careful choice of cultivars suitable for local conditions of soil and climate and with effective control of the highly destructive anthracnose fungus. This article reviews research and experience over a wide area, including Australia, Thailand, and South America.
