Abstract
The production of tea has been increasing steadily during the last two decades, and in 1983 the Indian crop alone reached a record total of 585.5 million kg. Nevertheless, the taste of the public is fickle and the future of the industry depends not only on more efficient production, based on current research, but on closely studying consumer preferences.
