Abstract
Bovine brucellosis is one of the most important economic and zoonotic diseases in the world. The incidence has been decreased in many countries through organized campaigns but has increased in others. The trends toward larger herds and greater cattle commerce have complicated control efforts. In most countries, emphasis should be placed on vaccination since it is the most practical method of control. Control should be an acceptable philosophy since few countries can afford eradication programmes, due to limitations of resources and needed animal protein.
