Abstract
Several insecticides discovered during the past ten years are currently on trial as potential replacements, in the control of stored-produce insects, for malathion to which insect resistance is widespread and increasing. Criteria for acceptance are exacting and assessment of the value of a new product in this specialist field takes many years. Pirimiphos-methyl, one such product, is here compared with others in a variety of stored-produce applications to grain and other commodities.
