The locust problem has attracted a great deal of attention down the millenia but only in this century has it been defined with any precision and appropriate control measures devised. Much of this progress is attributable to the pioneering work of the late Sir Boris Uvarov—work that led to the founding of the Anti-Locust Research Centre, with Sir Boris as its first director. Dr. Haskell, the present director, takes up the story, traces current trends and discusses future possibilities.
