Plantation crops, including orchards, are characterized primarily by their perennial nature and the fact that they are normally planted; a derivative characteristic is the relatively wide and regular spacing. These features, despite the variety and wide geographical and climatic distribution of the crops, to some extent define the weed problems and set the stage for a dramatic exploitation of the unusual physical and biological properties of paraquat. The possibilities are intriguing.
