When this serious disease of tea first appeared in Ceylon in 1946 little was known of its biology or control; but immediate steps were taken to remedy matters, and within four years efficient measures had been devised for the protection of tea in bearing and recovering from pruning. Spraying or dusting with copper fungicides is now routine practice, and research has turned to improving formulations and the timing of applications.
