Abstract
Most of the soils on which tea is grown are of low fertility, and high yields cannot be obtained without liberal manuring. Nitrogen is the chief requirement, and its application up to 100 lb. per acre will usually give economic responses from tea in good condition if local needs of phosphate and potash are met. Account must also be taken in treating the crop of such important factors as type of tea, age of the bushes, and the pruning regime.
