Abstract
Machines and implements have been developed by means of which nearly all operations in rice growing can be carried out with success, granted the right soil and good control of water. There are other considerations: even if the engineering problems on wet land can be solved, social and financial obstacles will usually make it impossible to adopt mechanization in the old paddy areas, though place has been found for it on new land.
