Abstract
Many problems that are difficult to solve have been created by the appearance and spread of insecticide-resistant strains of insects. We now know that resistance is inherited, rapidly acquired and slow to be lost, and ways have been indicated in which it may arise; but more must be discovered about the mechanism of action of the toxicants and their metabolism in the insect body before the nature of the trouble can be fully understood.
