Although modern insecticides have cleared many pests from our crops, they have not only failed against red spider but have actually increased the incidence of these mites by destroying insects that prey upon them. In consequence mite control has become a major concern of the economic entomologist. Research on this subject has occupied the author for some years past, and he describes here how acaricides now being tested at Jealott's Hill offer fresh hope of a solution to this complex problem.
