Abstract
Thioridazine is a phenothiazine tranquillizer with specificity for psychotherapeutic action. It is well tolerated but will induce changes in myocardial repolarization which are further aggravated in the presence of low blood potassium levels. Fatalities due to overdosage of thioridazine are rare and those associated with therapeutic dosage and cross-reaction with other drugs even more so. This communication concerns the death of a 40-year-old white female, attributed to the combined effects of the misuse of thioridazine, frusemide and clonidine.
