The paper describes the background to Waddiloves Hospital and outlines the treatment approach. Aspects of 188 admissions (141 males and 47 females) are given: the patients were young, unmarried and lacked social stability, 28 per cent were referred by the Courts and the main diagnoses were drug or alcohol dependence and personality disorder.
